文殊菩萨极乐世界唐卡

与普贤菩萨一同伴随在释迦佛的左右，掌管智慧的生起。格鲁派创立者宗咯巴以及历代英明的帝王都被视为是文殊的化现。右手持剑象征智慧与光明，左手持莲花上呈代表圣洁智慧的经文。在释迦佛的诞生国尼泊尔，她还被视为是尼泊尔文明和加德满都山谷的创造者。

文殊菩萨藏名译音:蒋木巴尔扬，是八大随佛弟子之一，是集诸佛智慧于一身的菩萨。文殊菩萨，梵名曼殊师利，译为妙吉祥、妙音、普首、濡首、敬首等，显教中常与普贤菩萨成对，随侍释迦牟尼佛之左右，专掌智能门。在诸菩萨中，号称智能第一。

依"大佛顶首楞严经"所载， 文殊师利菩萨是过去"龙种上尊王佛"，故亦称为"文殊佛"，密号吉祥金刚或般若金刚。

藏密极为尊崇文殊菩萨，本体名阿热巴札(Arapachana Manjushri,又称阿喇巴乍)，文殊师利菩萨之变化相极多，有孺童文殊、语狮子文殊、语王文殊、白文殊、黑文殊、桔红文殊等。

文殊师利，身桔红，如旭日初升，头戴五佛冠，表示五方佛的五种智能，头顶作成五个发髻，表示内心已经证得五智，右手高举般若焰剑，表断一切无明、愚昧、昏黯。左手当胸作转法轮印，并拈青莲花梗，延手臂而上。花开齐于耳际，莲瓣上平放着般若波罗密多梵匣，表般若智能浩瀚如经典。一切珠宝璎珞表其报身圆满，以金刚双咖趺姿势安住于莲花日轮上。

修持礼拜文殊菩萨可增一切福德智慧，可增长智能，辩才无碍，口演妙法，了知诸法真实义， 消除愚痴、暗哑及语业诸障。 持诵文殊菩萨真言天德，能够开发智能、坚固记忆，破除无明黑黯，了知一切真实，消除愚痴、暗哑与语言障碍等。

Majushree is the Bodhisatrva of Wisdom and Knowledge. With a flaming sword held in his right hand, Manjushree ensures that a human will gain knowledge and insight. He cleaves the clouds of ignorance with it, but also uses it in the morning to chase away the demons of the night bringing light into the darkness. He lays on a lotus blossom and in his left hand is the Prajnaparmita manuscript "the book of Divine Wisdom". Majushree confers mastery of the Dharma, retentive memory, mental perception and eloquence. Tsongkhapa, the great reformer and the founder of the Glugpa monastic order is an earthly incarnation of Manjushri.
